A Story of Hope: Paula
Paula is currently the Administrative Assistant at the Pasadena Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) and a loving mother. However, it took many years of hard work and discipline to get where she is at today. Before entering the ARC program, Paula knew she had a substance abuse problem, but felt so lost and too caught in the moment to get the help she so desperately needed. Luckily for her, a few of Paula’s family members referred her to The Salvation Army ARC and she entered the program with a willingness to grow, something she hadn’t allowed herself to do in a very long time.
Although there were times she felt that she was taking one step forward and then two steps back, Paula knew that God was there to support her and move her forward in her journey of self-discovery and betterment. For her, the ARC program felt like a self-improvement bootcamp and a chance to work on herself, so she could be there for her family and loved ones. Paula knows that she wouldn’t have been able to be such a big part of her daughters’ lives without the program. She believes she would have slowly disappeared from her kids’ lives if she hadn’t found God and the path to recovery. Now, an alumna of the ARC program, Paula is closer to her daughters than ever before and even introduced them to the power of God.
April is Alcohol Awareness Month. The goal of this month is to bring awareness to the public about the danger of alcohol abuse and to encourage those struggling with alcohol abuse to seek treatment.
